Majestic Great White Egret with it's head twisted around to preen it's plumage.Photograpg taken in Green Cay, Florida wetlands.
About Great Egrets:
This all white bird, with yellow beak and black legs, is slightly smaller and more svelte than a Great Blue Heron.Their beautiful white plumes had them hunted to near extinction in the late nineteenth century, sparking conservation movements and some of the first laws to protect birds.
